The red roses that she took sure care of were dried out and fallin to the ground. The swing that hung from her apple tree was now holding nothing but bare brances. The bird baths full of maggots, that spill over to the ground. As she looked around she was wondering if she should go outside to make sure it was all real. Then the phone rang.

She rolled over to the other side of the bed, fumbled to pick up the phone, and finally managed to get it to her ear. "Hello?" she rasped.

"Is it real?"

"What?"

"Outside. Is it real?"

She was talking to her bestfriend Meggie
"Yes I do think it is, I have no idea whats happening." Meggie said with a shrug.
"I know its like were in a tim burton movie or something." Lonna said turning on the telvision.

"Death," said the Newsman. "What you are all seeing is the earth meeting its final decay." He clutched the podium in front of him desperately. "It'll be us soon! We're next in line! Our organs will spill out onto the ground as putrid waste, and everything will be over!"

Within those few minutes she broke into a panic. The room started spining and everything went pitch black. When she came to her friend Meggie was standing above her.

"Wha, what are you doing here." Lonna said trying to get her balance using a chair to aid her, to standing

"My roof started melting onto my second floor, so I had to get out of there as fast as i could and i wanted to take you with me." Meggie said packing Lonna's bags full of clothes

Lonna tried to stay up-right, blinking in the semi-darkness. All around was a soft greenish hue, but she could not discern where the light was actually coming from. She focused as much as she could on Meggie who frantically trying to zipper an overflowing duffle bag.

But it was hard, her vision blurred and trebled more as she tried harder to focus. Meggie's words stretched into intermittent squeals as she began to cry in frustration, it was useless to take anything. The world was dying, where would they go? Nothing could be done--even the world's top scientists were baffled; spouting theories ranging from the sun going nova to a lessening of the force that binds molecules together. Where could anyone go to escape something like that?

Meggie stopped her packing and did the only thing she know would help. She found the bible located in Lonna's nightstand. She flipped to the last section. {which i forgot what its called}She had Lonna read along with her, while Lonna laid on the ground unable to move. Meggie grabbed the cross from the wall above the bed, and waited for something to happen.

The bible slipped from her hands, landing upon the floor with a dull thud. The sound seemed distant, as though it too had been torn from the center, spiraling in to nothingness.
Lonna gingerly lifted the cover of the bible with trembling fingers. The world seemed to take on a vague, far away quality as she stared at the page of the open book, like the strange no-feeling that crept through her feet if she'd sat on them for too long.
The page winked up at the world, white as clean linen and completely blank.
As she watched seized by horror, pin pricks of shimmering black ink bubbled at the surface of the paper, melting in to a thinly scrawled message; Sleep beneath the wandering stars, Your world is but a thing to be marred
